Arrival of its First Ro-Ro Vessel

Africa Global Logistics (AGL), together with its partners Nippon Yusen Kaisha (NYK) and Toyota Tsusho Corporation, announces the official start of operations of the Suez Canal Automotive Terminal (SCAT) at East Port Said, marked by the arrival of the vessel AICC HUANGHU. Sailing under the Marshall Islands flag, the Car Carrier vessel is the first to call at SCAT since its soft opening on July 1, 2025, carrying 2,004 transit vehicles and 96 import vehicles.

SCAT is Egypt’s first logistics terminal for CBU (Completely Built Unit) vehicles and the result of a strategic joint venture between three global leaders in maritime transport, logistics, and automotive trade. Located at the northern entrance of the Suez Canal, the SCAT terminal is positioned on one of the world’s busiest maritime routes and is designed to serve automotive flows across Africa, the Middle East and Europe. The future expansion of the terminal will offer a storage capacity of 10,000 vehicles on 21.2 hectares. The facility is equipped to support import, export, and transshipment activities, reinforcing Egypt’s ambition to become a major logistics gateway for the region.

The development of SCAT aligns with the growth of Egypt’s automotive market, driven by rising demand, population expansion and the region’s growing role in intra-African trade. Beyond serving global automotive flows, SCAT is expected to support future vehicle manufacturing activities within the Suez Canal Economic Zone, becoming a gateway for Egyptian-built vehicles exported worldwide.

AGL brings extensive expertise in African logistics and port operations to the partnership, while NYK contributes its global leadership in maritime automotive transport, and Toyota Tsusho provides deep knowledge of the automotive industry and strong operational capabilities. Together, the consortium aims to handle up to 50,000 vehicles per year upon full operation.

AGL, NYK and Toyota Tsusho reaffirm their commitment to supporting Egypt’s economic development and delivering world-class automotive logistics solutions for the region
