AGL Gabon has taken a major step forward in developing its expertise in high-value-added industrial logistics by successfully completing the first import and delivery of ammonium nitrate on behalf of a leading mining company, a benchmark player in drilling and mining solutions.
This exceptional operation involved transporting more than 480 tonnes of ammonium nitrate classified as dangerous goods (UN 1942, class 5.1) from Malaga, Spain, to the company's site.
Far more than a simple transport operation, this mission represented a genuine logistical challenge, requiring several months of preparation, rigorous coordination with Gabonese authorities, and the mobilization of extensive in-house expertise. Given the sensitive nature of the product transported, AGL Gabon implemented a comprehensive system in line with international security requirements.
In total, 26 truck rotations were organized across four secure convoys to ensure a continuous flow between the port and the client site.
Despite adverse weather conditions that temporarily interrupted unloading operations, the teams maintained a high level of responsiveness and coordination, enabling the operation to be completed within the contractual deadlines. This success confirms AGL Gabon's ability to manage cargoes with high regulatory and operational sensitivity, while meeting the growing needs of the mining, energy, and industrial sectors in Central Africa.
The success of this first ammonium nitrate import opens up new prospects for the development of specialized logistics chains in Gabon. It also demonstrates AGL's ability to support its clients in their most strategic projects through integrated expertise covering shipping, transit, port operations, road transport, and QHSE management.
