On Friday, October 11, 2024, AGL (Africa Global Logistics) successfully completed the delivery and delivery of one of the seven trainsets of Phase II of the Regional Express Train (TER) project in Senegal. This new delivery is in addition to the ten trains already in service and testifies to the continuous progress of this large-scale project of the State of Senegal, aimed at strengthening the region’s transport infrastructure.

The operation, which took place at Dakar Terminal located at pier 2 of the Autonomous Port of Dakar (PAD), was carried out with the support of the customs and port authorities in optimal conditions. The first train, with a volume of 1073 m3 and a weight of 186 tonnes, was treated thanks to meticulous preparation, mobilising exceptional resources. A secure area has been set up for storage and loading on trailers. Two cranes, of 90 and 100 tons, as well as a team of fifteen employees, experts in their field,  were mobilized to ensure the smooth running of the operations.

The train’s vehicles were transported in two exceptional convoys, made possible thanks to the efficient coordination of AGL’s local teams and the use of specialised equipment, including very high-capacity hydraulic trailers. The convoys, escorted by the gendarmerie, were transported at night according to a rigorously planned route, thanks to the company’s “Road Survey” solution from the port of Dakar to the Maintenance and Storage Site (SMR) in Colobane. The delivery concluded with the railing of the vehicles, carried out in accordance with the required safety standards.

The next steps in the project include the delivery of the remaining six trains, the next of which is scheduled for the end of October. This development will better connect Dakar to its airport, facilitating travel, and supporting the country’s economic and social growth.
